Room Guidelines

Rooms are assigned by the resident directors. Requests for rooms and roommates are honored when possible.

Room Deposit $175.00 refundable upon graduation or proper cancellation*, return of keys, and when Student Services confirms the room is vacated in good condition.
*Written cancellation due by July 1 for fall semester; December 1 for spring semester.
Lost Key $60.00 replacement charge for a lost or unreturned key.
Student ID $10.00 replacement charge.
Refund Policy No reduction or refund for any time a student may be away from campus.
Breaks & Vacations Students may request permission to stay during in-semester vacations and Christmas break (additional charges apply). Meals are not provided during Fall, Thanksgiving, Christmas, or Spring breaks. Christmas break stay requests must be submitted in writing by November 1.
Move-Out Rooms must be vacated by the Monday following the last day of classes or exams to avoid a rental fee. Summer residency requests must be submitted in writing by April 1.
Appliances Permitted: one microwave (1.2 cu. ft.), one small refrigerator (3.2 cu. ft.), and small appliances (coffee makers, irons, etc.). One flat-screen TV (32″ or smaller) per room. No open cooking in uncovered containers (woks, skillets, etc.).
Open Flames Insurance regulations prohibit candles, incense, and open flames in the residence hall.
Common Areas Floor lounges must be kept orderly at all times. Minimize food/drinks and always dispose of trash properly.
Decorating Personalize your room with tasteful, Christ-honoring posters or pictures. Use only resident-educator-approved products for hanging items to protect walls.
End of Year All students must remove all personal items and appliances at the end of the school year. International students may request summer storage.
Pets No pets except fish are allowed in student rooms.
Laundry Coin-operated laundry facilities are located on the galleys on each floor.

Room Furnishings

The college provides the essentials. Here is what to expect and what to bring.

Bring Your Own Pillow, bedding (sheets & blankets), and towels.
Provided by KCC Beds, clothes storage, closets, and window blinds.
Room Upkeep Students are expected to keep their rooms clean and orderly.
Permanent Fixtures Any installation requires approval from the facilities coordinator and must be performed by the maintenance department. Installed fixtures become the property of the college.
Furniture Room furnishings and lounge furniture may not be reconfigured.
Painting & Additions Students may not paint their rooms or add furniture to the residence hall without prior approval from resident educators.
