What a celebration! What better way to celebrate our risen savior than baptizing our own students into life with Jesus? We had an excellent opportunity to baptize four students.
At the beginning of Mark 16, we see the interaction with the woman that went to the tomb and the white man dressed in a white robe. They were looking for Jesus, but they did not find him. “Don’t be alarmed,” He said. “He has risen. He is not here.” Scriptures tell us that the woman left trembling, bewildered, and afraid.
What are we afraid of? Whom should we fear? Matthew 10:38 says: “Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.”
Our students, especially those four who entered the water into baptism, entered into possession of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. They learned that they must surrender to His authority and be covered by his love and protection from all evil. 2 Cor 5:17 teaches us that we all have been baptized, were buried with Christ in baptism, and were raised to walk in a brand new life.
