Early this year, the Cultural Research Center, under the direction of George Barna, conducted a national survey about the worldview of Americans. And the results are staggering. The survey shows that although seven out of ten Americans consider themselves to be Christian, just 6% actually possess a biblical worldview. Among Millennials (18-36 year olds), the findings show a generation radically different in its worldview and beliefs from previous generations. Millennials increasingly—and robustly—reject the Christian faith, with only 2 percent possessing a biblical worldview. At our fall banquet just a few weeks ago, I spoke to those in attendance about the importance of “passing our faith along” to the next generation. Each and every day that is what we are striving to do with the students on our campus and those studying online. As we continue to grow, we are experiencing the “pains” that come with that growth in multiple areas. We are grateful for new opportunities to expand the work of the Lord at KCC and OCS.
On October 24, I publicly announced that we are in the process of purchasing a two-story building adjacent to our campus that is currently owned by Herald and Banner Press. We take possession in early January. In the short term, the building will likely become home to our administrative and business offices giving us a presence on Metcalf. It will also serve as additional classroom space for our growing student body. We were able to purchase it for a reasonable price and raised money at our banquet in gifts and pledges to cover our down payment. We are excited about the opportunities this will provide us for growth and expansion in the months and years ahead!
