What KCC Looks at When Reviewing Credits
KCC generally accepts undergraduate courses from accredited institutions. Transfer credit from institutions that are not accredited may still be considered and is evaluated through the registrar. Courses are reviewed with your degree program in mind to ensure your credits support a strong, coherent path to graduation.
Evaluation checklist
- Institutional recognition and academic standing
- Grade earned in the course
- Comparability of the course content and level to KCC coursework
- Relevance to your specific KCC degree program
- Course rigor, including expectations and learning outcomes
Grade note
Generally, transfer credit is awarded for coursework completed with a grade of C or higher. In some cases, a C minus credit may be considered depending on documentation, program fit, and the nature of the course. Your advisor will confirm what applies in your situation.
International coursework note
College-level work completed outside the United States may be transferable. Official records and certified English translations are required; KCC may also require a transcript evaluation through an approved service.
KCC Distinctives and Ministry Formation
Kansas Christian College is intentionally Christ-centered. Some courses are considered part of KCC’s institutional distinctives and are designed to be completed through KCC rather than transferred from another school. In addition, KCC emphasizes ministry formation, preparing students to serve and lead in their field with a biblical foundation.
Ethos course examples
- Principles of Christian Life
- Theology of Holiness
Even in non-ministry majors, KCC’s approach is designed to help students think biblically and lead with character in their workplace, family, church, and community.
How to Submit Transcripts for Transfer Review
To evaluate transfer credits, KCC requires official transcripts to be sent directly from the school or transcript provider. Transcripts sent by a student or a third party may not be accepted as official records for evaluation purposes.

Earn Credit for What You Already Know
In addition to transferring credits, some students may qualify for Credit for Prior Learning. This can be a helpful option for students who have developed college-level learning through testing, training, or experience.
Important CPL Notes
- CPL may be provisionally approved upon petition; however, it is not entered on the transcript until a student has completed 30 credit hours at KCC with a minimum GPA of 2.5 and is not on academic probation.
- Students must be in good financial standing and enrolled at KCC when petitioning for CPL.
- CPL is posted as credit and does not impact GPA.
- CPL limits may apply, including maximum credit amounts and residency requirements.
CPL Pathways
CPL by exam
Credit may be available based on qualifying scores on exams such as CLEP, DSST, AP, or IB. Specific score requirements can be obtained through the academic office.
CPL for U.S. military training
Some ACE recommended credit may be awarded for military coursework. Official military transcripts are evaluated for potential credit.
CPL based on portfolio review
Students may submit a portfolio that demonstrates learning gained through experience. Portfolio review fees may apply.
Agreements That May Help You Transfer Faster
Kansas Christian College has established partnerships and agreements with other schools and organizations that can facilitate the transfer of credit more smoothly for students. If you are transferring from a partner organization, let our team know so we can guide you to the best pathway.
Transfer Credit Questions Students Ask Most
Question: How long does a transfer evaluation take?
Answer: Transfer credit evaluation begins once official transcripts are received and your program pathway is selected. Our team will update you as your review is completed.
Question: Do my credits automatically apply to my degree?
Answer: Not always. Credits are reviewed to ensure they fit your chosen degree program and ensure the best academic outcome.
Question: Can I transfer in credits if I already earned another degree?
Answer: Possibly. Courses may be accepted even if they were used toward another earned degree, as long as they meet transfer standards and fit your program.
Question: Do international credits transfer?
Answer: International coursework may be considered with official records, certified English translations, and, when required, an approved transcript evaluation.
