In 2012, Kansas Christian College initiated a one-year certificate program aimed at adults seeking to enrich their understanding of the Bible. The inception of this program, aptly named “The Year,” was driven by the vision and leadership of Matt Lee. This endeavor subsequently catalyzed the launch of our online education platform, a pioneering move at the time, with Matt at the helm.
Matt, a proud alumnus of the college since 2002, unexpectedly found his path leading back to KCC where he joined the leadership team under then-president Dr. Delbert Scott. Over the years, Matt’s responsibilities expanded, serving in various pivotal roles including Director of the Year Program, campus pastor, professor, Vice President of Adult and Online Education, Vice President of Admissions, and most recently, Executive Vice President.
In each capacity, Matt has exerted a profound influence on nearly every facet of the institution—online education, student services, admissions, financial aid, fundraising, athletics, academics, and accreditation, among others. His leadership extended beyond the confines of job titles, impacting nearly every student, staff, and faculty member across the college.
As Executive Vice-President, there was virtually no area of the institution that was off-limits to Matt’s leadership. Matt’s influence touched nearly every employee on and off the campus and every department of the organization. Wherever Matt was involved, people knew they were seen and they were heard. They knew they had in Matt a leader who wanted the best for the organization and who would work tirelessly to improve whatever area he was tasked to lead. His unwavering dedication and tireless efforts have significantly shaped the growth and success of Kansas Christian College.
Despite facing the darkest days of his life when he lost his beloved wife, Jill, to cancer in 2021, Matt’s dedication never wavered. His leadership tenure throughout his time at KCC was characterized by vision, integrity, faithfulness, and a deep passion for the welfare of our students and the college community. Matt has embodied the essence of servant leadership, a core tenet of our mission at Kansas Christian College. The impact of his service is immeasurable and extends beyond what words can capture.
